Camp begins each morning at 9 am with a large group gathering. Kids will sit together in crews with a trusted crew leader – this will be their group for the whole week as they rotate through different stations. To allow kids to have a Maker Camp experience that best fits their developmental needs, rising 1st & 2nd graders will be grouped together, 3rd & 4th graders together, and 5th & 6th graders together.
After the morning session, the crew will get to experience a new way of being a “maker” through their station time, which is the bulk of the Maker Camp experience. Perhaps they will design a marble maze, create a flying plane, cook a new food, make an instrument, craft Shrinky Dinks jewelry, build a lego city, or more! Each child will complete a total of 5 projects over the course of the week. Exact stations are dependent on volunteer availability and will be determined by April 2019.
Throughout the day there will also be a snack break (snack is provided), outdoor games time, and a chance for the crew to huddle up and discuss their thoughts on the day’s content.
Shortly before noon all the crews will gather together again for a closing session and music. We invite parents to come join us at 12:00 as we wrap up our time together, and then to sign out your child no later than 12:15.
On Friday we will have an Open House & Celebration Lunch, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm. We hope you can join us to see what all the kids have been working on, meet their friends, view a slide show, and listen as your child’s crew leader gives them individual words of encouragement.
